BIZARRE animal deaths in Powys are being blamed on visitors from outer space, UFO experts have claimed.
Furious farmers from Montgomeryshire and Radnorshire have recently been waking up to find their animals dead after seemingly being �experimented on�.
Over the past 12 years there have been many reports of animal deaths in Powys, and in 2001 UFO hunters established the Animal Pathology Field Unit, a non-profit making organisation committed to carrying out research into the animal mutilation mystery

The team is linking the mutilations - including the removal of sheep brains and eyes - to the increased sightings of mysterious red and oranges spheres in the sky.

Last weekend the 15-strong unit staged a night time stake- out in the Radnorshire Forest and witnessed a scene described by a local expert as something that �looked more like a Star Wars battle.�

53-year-old Phil Hoyle, of Shrewsbury, has spent nine years probing the riddle of livestock found killed in Powys and in 2001 co-founded the Animal Pathology Unit.
�Things kicked off really early and just after 10pm my colleague spotted a bright burnt red light hanging over an isolated ravine near a highly forested area known as New Radnor, near the Radnorshire Forest,� he said, when asked about the stake-out.

�At first we thought the light was from an isolated farmhouse or dwelling but it soon became clear this light was hovering, it also had company because an identical red sphere appeared to the bottom right of the first light about a quarter of a mile away.

�The lights kept changing shape and emitting beams of light and small spheres that covered large areas of distance in a blink of an eye. At times the spheres would morph into different shapes firing beams to the ground and discharging small spheres that darted backwards and forwards across the valley floor as though they were looking for something.

�During the sighting beams of light would be fired out of the forest at the small spheres travelling across open fields. We could not discern where these beams were coming from, or who or what might have generated them, but for a short while it looked more like a Star Wars battle by two opposing forces.

�At one point in the sighting the two red spheres disappeared from the valley below only to re-appear to our right, just behind a small hill where we were camped.
�Then, suddenly, an intense narrow white beam passed down the hill just behind us and at times we thought the red spheres not only knew where we were there but they were watching us.
�These spheres are clearly not Chinese lanterns and do not conform to any known conventional aircraft or meteorological manifestation.�

Phil says the UFOs like to roam a specific 50-mile corridor between Shrewsbury and Powys, but Dartmoor and the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire are also hunting grounds. Sheep have been found with neat hole and their brains and other internal organs removed.

Following last week�s article about UFOs in Powys being responsible for bizarre animal death, two people from the Machynlleth area contacted the County Times to inform us of possible sightings from outer space.

The first, John Pritchard, describes seeing �orange light which then changed to a purple colour�, while the second, Kathleen Walls, says she and her husband saw an object �big in body all lit up with two lights either side of it.�

And a UFO sceptic from Machynlleth has been left questioning whether such things do exist after filming unexplained orange lights in the sky.

John Pritchard spotted the lights flying above Machynlleth at approximately 8.10pm on March 12, and quickly dashed for his video camera to recorded the �strange� activity.

The County Times hopes to get a copy of the video on its website � www.countytimes.co.uk � as quickly as possible.

�The lights were moving quite slowly at first, then they sped up and zig-zagged away. It was very strange,� explained Mr Pritchard.

�At first I thought it must be an aeroplane but it definitely was not because when I enlarged my recording on the television I could see an orange circular light which then changed to a purple colour.

�I am a bit sceptical when it comes to things like UFOs and aliens but I would be interested in finding out what exactly I did film,� he concluded.

Meanwhile, a couple from Pennal spotted an �unexplained object� flying through the night sky last month.

Kathleen Walls and her husband, from Pennal, near Machynlleth, spotted the object on March 8 and took these photographs (see above) of them flying through the sky.

Kathleen said: �My husband spotted the unexplained object first, he was watching it from his armchair in the living room and thought it was a new space satellite.

�He got up to go outside for a closer look and called me out � what we saw was a bright light miles away so he went in for his binoculars and I got my camera.

�We thought it was a big star at first and I had a job keeping it in the lens because it was jumping all over the shop.

�The next thing it was over the house in a matter of seconds, it was big in body all lit up with two lights either side of it.�

COVINGTON - It's time to turn down the lights and take a good look at the screen. We caught a mysterious object flying over Covington that has a neighborhood on alert. ABC26 News Reporter Vanessa Bolano has more.

Is it a bird? A plane? It's, well we don't know what it is.

Phil Topper describes it as, "A white wing span that you see flying over around 9 o'clock at night."

Cydney and Phil Topper have been spending evenings outdoors lately, but it's not to ignite any romance. The two are trying to figure out what has been flying overhead nearly every night for the last four weeks.

"We don't know what it is," says Cydney Topper, "We're hoping that someone can help us figure it out."

Cydney's husband, Phil, describes their nightly routine. "Originally we'd set out back and we'd see it, and then we got the bright idea that we'd observe more of it out front, so we've set a couple chairs out in the front driveway and wait for it to come."

And it came. Whether you are a believer in extraterrestrial life or not, the sight may open your eyes to a whole new world.

One young neighbor, Jonathon, says "I couldn't really tell if that was birds, or aliens, or UFOs. Me and my sister, we think it was UFOs."

John Fussell, who lives across the street from the Topper family, says, "I think there's a greater power out there. Do I believe in UFOs? I guess to a degree."

The neighborhood is not alone. According to UFO Network, last month over 630 people in the world reported seeing something they couldn't identify.

ABC26 returned to the mysterious scene with more equipment for a third night and caught the UFO close-up. Turns out the UFO is a group of birds!

Residents from Winthorpe are the latest to report unexplained bright lights over Lincolnshire's coastline
And if the source is alien, apparently we aren't the only species mesmerised by bashing little balls about with sticks.

Resident Sharon O'Brien, who lives opposite the Dunes pub, said she and two other friends had witnessed 'golden glows' over North Shore Golf Course last Thursday eve.

Lincolnshire Coastguard sector manager Samantha Jessop reported similar sightings and put it down to meteors.

A POLICE helicopter flying over Birmingham narrowly avoided tragedy when it nearly collided with a UFO, a report has claimed.

The pilot managed to swerve out of the mystery aircraft�s way while he was on a routine police surveillance task over the city centre earlier this year.

The helicopter was also carrying two police observers during the journey at around 9.50pm on May 2.

All three reported seeing an aircraft with two continuous blue/green lights � but were unable to identify what it was. The extraordinary incident is detailed in a document compiled by experts from the Airprox Board, which records near misses and reports them to the military and air traffic control units.

The report stated: �The front observer saw unidentified lights flying around their aircraft. The pilot established visual contact, as he manoeuvred the aircraft to avoid a collision and to identify the light source.�

The object was less than 100m away and flew around them. The pilot told the Airprox Board he thought the intent may either have been sinister or just someone messing around.

It was initially believed that the object was a radio controlled aircraft and that it was purposefully flown around the helicopter.

The report stated: �He (the pilot) believes the lights may have come from a radio controlled fixed wing aircraft, the lights being to assist with night flying.�

Despite searching the area with a thermal camera, the pilot was unable to find any signs of radio-controlled model activity.

And the British Model Flying Association ruled out the possibility, saying the mystery object was flying too high to be a miniature craft.

Leading expert Nick Pope, who previously worked for the Ministry of Defence�s UFO desk and is nicknamed the British Fox Mulder, told the Birmingham Mail today: �A helicopter was nearly blown out of the sky.

�This is a very disturbing incident which needs to be thoroughly investigated by the MoD and the Civil Aviation Authority as well as other near misses.

�The conclusion on the report is unsatisfactory especially when this aircraft came within seconds of a collision. It is a very interesting case especially when you look at the eyewitnesses. They are credible and reliable sources who have experience in night time flying.�

�This sighting clearly illustrates that whatever one believes about UFOs, this incident raises important air safety issues and should be taken seriously.�

THIS astonishing video footage is claimed to be the "most important images of a UFO ever filmed" � and is said to even depict ALIENS.
The shots were captured by night guard Yalcin Yalman in a compound in Turkey earlier this year

The 42-year-old and a number of residents claim the UFOs were spotted over a four month period between May and September near the compound in Istanbul.

He said: �I don�t know what these things are. We filmed them several times and they are totally unknown to us. I was very excited when I saw them and I want the world to know that UFOs do exist�.

Almost two-and-a-half hours of footage was filmed featuring a variety of objects ranging from incredible flying saucer-type 'craft' to clustering orb-like lights hovering in the night sky.
Genuine
The clips were handed to the Sirius UFO Space Science Research Centre in Turkey who interviewed witnesses and painstakingly combed through the footage frame by frame.

International UFO researcher Haktan Akdogan said: "In this amazing video footage, physical forms of UFOs and their metallic structures are clearly noticeable.

"What is more important is that in the close-up of some footages of the objects, entities in them can be distinctly made out."

He continues: "We have spoken with all of the witnesses and had detailed analysis conducted on all two-and-a-half hours of footage.

"After conducting all of the analysis we came to the conclusion that this video footage is 100 per cent genuine.

"The objects filmed are structured objects and are not the result of misidentification or natural phenomena, aircraft or astronomical objects.
"They are not the results either of any kind of computer animation. Now is it a time for world governments to acknowledge the reality of UFOs."

He added: "The images captured on film are expected to have a tremendous impact throughout the world and they are the most important UFO images ever caught on camera."

The footage will be revealed at the UFO Data Magazine annual conference in Pontefract, West Yorks, on October 25.

And it has earned the seal of approval from British experts.

UFO Data Magazine editor Russell Callaghan said: "This video footage from Turkey, if authentic, represents a serious challenge to science. I can honestly say that this footage is truly unique."

As the captain of Flight AZ 284 began his descent into Heathrow, he saw something alarming overhead.
Shaped like a missile, the object suddenly veered across the airliner's path causing the pilot to shout 'Look out!' as he attempted to avert a mid-air collision 22,000ft above the Kent countryside.
Travelling at an estimated 120mph, it passed less than 1,000ft from the passenger jet before disappearing from radar screens, leaving the pilot and accident investigators baffled.

Secret documents released for the first time reveal that Ministry of Defence staff accept that an Unidentified Flying Object zooming above Lydd caused the near miss.
The incident took place at 7.58pm on April 21, 1991, and was investigated by the Civil Aviation Authority and military experts.
Having ruled out the possibility of it being a missile, weather balloon or space rocket, the MoD was forced to conclude that it was a genuine UFO and close the inquiry.
The unexplained close encounter is one of many recounted in military UFO documents released today by the National Archives.
The Alitalia aircraft was on a routine flight from Milan to Heathrow with 57 people on board when the ten-foot long object, which had no exhaust flame, was spotted by pilot Achille Zaghetti.

He told accident investigators: 'I saw for about 3.4 seconds a flying object, very similar to a missile, light brown coloured.
'At once I said, "Look out, look out" to my co-pilot, who saw what I had seen.
'As soon as the object crossed us I asked the ACC (area control centre) operator if he saw something on his screen and he answered, "I see an unknown target 10nm ( nautical miles) behind you".'

At 10.25pm that night there was a report to Brentwood police in Essex of a dark flying object in the sky which had no engine noise or lights.
Southern TV also broadcast a story about a 14-year-old boy who reported seeing a missile flying at low level before climbing through the cloud and disappearing on the same evening.
Radar images of the object showed that the UFO was initially labelled 'cruise missile??' but checks on Army firing ranges and U.S. and British naval ships established that it was not a military weapon or 'space related' activity.
On July 2 a secret MoD report concluded: 'These departments have not been able to confirm the identity of the object sighted by the Alitalia crew.
'In the absence of any clear evidence which could be used to identify the object, it is our intention to treat this sighting like that of any other Unidentified Flying Object and therefore we will not be undertaking any further investigation into the sighting.'

Other incidents recorded in military files the same year include a 'wingless projectile' seen on June 17, 1991.

Four passengers on board a Boeing 737 saw it pass beneath the airliner as it climbed from Gatwick Airport headed for Hamburg.
Gatwick air traffic controllers were alerted but said they were 'unaware of anything unusual occurring at that time'.
A weather balloon had been released in the area around this time, but the description and timing did not match the wingless object, according to military files.
On July 15 the crew of a Britannia Airways 737 descending into Gatwick at 14,000ft reported seeing a 'small black lozenge-shaped object' travelling at high speed just 100 yards from the aircraft.
Air traffic control confirmed a 'primary contact' visible on the radar ten nautical miles behind the 737 travelling at 120mph.
Immediately air traffic controllers warned a following aircraft to turn left to avoid the object, although the pilot said he never saw it.
An investigation completed in April 1992 was unable to explain the incident but suggested the unidentified object could have been an escaped balloon.
The files available online for the first time also include an account by former U.S. Air Force fighter pilot Milton Torres, who claimed he tried to shoot down an alien spaceship in the skies above East Anglia in the 1950s.

COULD this prove that UFOs are targeting Wales?

Housewife Jane Usher contacted Wales on Sunday with the photograph she believes shows dozens of UFOs in the skies over South Wales.

It follows a series of high-profile sightings this summer, including one by a police helicopter crew near Cardiff.

Mrs Usher claimed she watched in amazement as the crafts buzzed her property while she sat in her garden on a warm summer evening.

Mrs Usher, 38, said: �I was with my husband, aunt and uncle when I spotted a bright orange light coming over the trees.

�Two more came side by side, followed by many more � about 24.

�There was no noise, they just came over. We watched in amazement until they all disappeared.�

Mrs Usher, who was just starting her second glass of red wine and insisted she was sober when the flying objects arrived, rushed inside to grab her eight-megapixel Lumicron LDC825 digital camera.

But despite trying to focus on the lit-up sky, she was unable to capture a clear image.

Instead, she snatched a picture on her two-megapixel Nokia 6300 mobile phone and filmed a 24-second clip, which can be viewed today at www.WalesOnline.co.uk. It shows exceptionally faint orange lights moving across the night sky as witnesses can be heard exclaiming in amazement.

Mum-of-four Mrs Usher, whose children are aged from 14 to 22, says: �I don�t know what that is. Oh my God!

�How amazing! Look at that, it�s going on forever!�

She was enjoying a drink in the garden of her detached home in Pencoed, near Bridgend, having just finished dinner when she noticed the illuminations approaching from half a mile away at 10.37pm.

Mrs Usher said the objects were at 100ft in the south-west sky and flew over the high-speed Bridgend to Cardiff railway line.

They cruised above the fields backing onto her property before vanishing near pylons alongside the A473 dual carriageway, which leads to Junction 35 of the M4.

�It was pitch black when I saw a big, bright orange light coming over the tree line followed by two more side by side,� said Mrs Usher.

�They were going higher and higher but getting closer and closer. My neighbour came out with her daughter and they saw them too.

�First I thought they could be aeroplanes or helicopters, but when I saw the others there was no way in this world they were planes or helicopters.

�I counted 24 in total, but one by one they just disappeared.�

Mrs Usher admitted she has always believed in extra-terrestrial life, but said her photo and video were conclusive �proof� that had made her �definite�.

She added: �I can�t explain it, but they were absolutely fantastic. If people don�t believe me, tough.�

South Wales Police and the Ministry of Defence said there were no reports of any UFO sightings that night.

MoD community relations officer for Wales, Squadron Leader Peter Sinclair, believes the lights may have been Chinese lanterns released by guests at a wedding reception.

�I have nothing I can put my finger on for that night,� added Sqn Ldr Sinclair.

�But I�m personally convinced they were lanterns.

�Even on a still night or one with very gentle breeze they can travel miles.�

The latest incident, on Saturday, July 12, follows the well-publicised apparent near-miss above RAF St Athan in the Vale of Glamorgan on June 7.

The South Wales Police helicopter was hovering at 500ft awaiting clearance to land when its three-man crew spotted a UFO speeding towards them from below. Reports claimed they chased it out over the Bristol Channel before it flew away.

Smash hit American investigative show UFO Hunters, which screens on the History Channel, visits St Athan a week tomorrow to explore the incident and discover if the truth really is out there.

Producer Dave Peroni said: �We have been monitoring what has been going on in Wales over the summer and it has been absolutely crazy.�

UFO mystery has been solved after an Edgware woman was deluged with calls from interested stargazers.

Swati Singh, 40, filmed a mysterious light hovering outside her bedroom window on Sunday, June 29, suspecting it could be something out of the ordinary.

She got in contact with the Harrow Times and we featured her spooky footage of the light as it hovered eerily over Stanmore Park on our website.

Several people called her and explained that the light is Jupiter, which can be seen at certain times of the year.

She said: "Jupiter can be seen from Earth when looking southwards.

"I got excited because it was a bright light hovering and I couldn't explain it.

"People are not aware that Jupiter can be seen, and I think it is interesting."

Mrs Singh filmed the light on two more occasions after her initial sighting, and she is now going to be interviewed by Channel 4 for a documentary about UFO sightings.

She said: "Apparently 95 per cent of sightings can be explain, which is something I didn't know before this."
